The Number of Passages of a Speech Signal through a Given Voltage Level,

Abstract

Experimental results of investigation of the numbers of passages of a speech signal through a given voltage level are described. Modifications of Rice's formulas for the theoretical determination of this statistical property are discussed. On the basis of experimental results, and of author's theoretical studies a suggestion is presented describing a change in the frequency response of the 'white noise' so that it should show a number of passages through a given voltage level analogous to the speech signal.
