Night Observation Device Long Range, 1-1/2 Generation Tripod Mounted - AN/TSS-7.

Abstract

Development of the Night Observation Device Long Range, 1-1/2 Generation, has proven the feasibility of a man-transportable advanced Viewing System that provides covert illumination and designation from a Gallium Arsenide Laser. This Report describes the final configuration of the thirteen NODLR Systems delivered to Night Vision Laboratories, and investigates the problems and solutions to problems encountered during development and field testing. Recommendations for improving the Night Observation Device, based upon the experience gained by Kollsman personnel in design and manufacture of the NODLR, are presented. Acoustic Noise Studies, Laser Power Measurement Investigations, and Data pertinent to NODLR investigations are presented in the Appendices of this Report. (Author)
