Allocation of Resources to Research and Development. Volume III. The Integration of Technological Forecasting into Army Planning.

Abstract

The study examines the manner in which technological forecasting may be more effectively integrated into Army planning. It indicates the useful contribution more selective and timely dissemination of forecast information. It is proposed that an improved dissemination be achieved by a reformatting of the present 3-volume Army Long Range Technological Forecast into a series of 'forecast modules.' Each module would be produced to cover a limited subject area, and forecast information users would 'subscribe' to, and receive only, those modules of interest. It is further proposed to establish an on-going evaluation of the forecast information based upon the observed use and citation of the individual modules. (Author)
