Survey and Study on Sand and Dirt

Abstract

The report describes the techniques of sampling and analyses of worldwide soil samples. The results demonstrate that there are considerable differences between the actual sand and dirt environment and that specified in the Military specification. Field reports show that many military and military- support items did not perform as expected even though they had fulfilled the specification requirements. Therefore, the Military Specification on Sand and Dirt should be revised to conform to the actual environmental test conditions.
