Epitaxial YIG Microwave Circuits.

Abstract

The work covered was directed at the development of intermediate wavenumber devices using epitaxial yttrium iron garnet (YIG). A new mode of propagation was developed, the magnetostatic wave in a dielectric layered structure, which has important properties for rf signal processing devices. The devices fabricated and evaluated are: A dispersive delay line DDL-EY-1 which operated at 2.59 GHz and has a time bandwidth product of 7.5. A recompressed pulse was achieved with this line which was 8 nsec wide at the -4 db points. A multiple tap delay line DL-EY-2 which operated at 2.564 GHz and had three coherent output taps. A correlation was achieved in this line with a 160 nsec pulse over a bandwidth of 10 MHz. (Author)
