High Power Ku-Band Latching Phase Shifter Switch.

Abstract

The research and development program is significant to the Air Force in that a high power, lightweight, fast switching phase shifter switch, in a configuration adaptable to an airborne application, has been developed and tested successfully. The scope of this contract included the research and development of a high-power Ku-band digital latching phase shifter switch suitable for use in a high performance (M 1.0 to 2.5) aircraft which utilizes a phased array radar. Particular emphasis was placed on high-power capability for the microwave portion of the device, and an efficient digital driver circuit capable of high-speed switching with low power consumption. As a result of this developmental project, Raytheon has fabricated and successfully tested four engineering models of the Ku-band phase shifter switch. Thus, the technical feasibility of high-power, lightweight, reproducible phase shifter switches has been demonstrated. (Author)
