Comparisons of the Underwater Power of Explosives in Small Charges. II. Charges with Explosive Plastic Cases.

Abstract

1-LB CHARGES OF HBX-1 in eight types of plastic case were fired underwater. UERL diaphragm gauges were used for shockwave comparisons, and bubble energy comparisons were made from bubble period measurements. A case composed of nitrocellulose cloth impregnated with resin increased the power of the charge appreciably; a plastic containing RDX was better. (Author)
