Environmental Tests of the AN/PDR-69 Fissionable Material Survey Instrument and the An/GDS-1 Remote Area Fallout Monitor.

Abstract

Environmental testing of the AN/PDR-69 Fissionable Material Contamination Survey Instrument and the AN/GDS-1 Remote Area Fallout Monitor was conducted. Two units of each instrument were subjected to low temperature, high temperature, temperature shock, altitude, humidity, rain, vibration, and shock conditions. Each unit was operated following each environmental test. The adverse environments of this series of tests caused some visible damage to and minor operational malfunctions of the AN/PDR-69 but no visible damage to or detectable operational malfunction of the AN/GDS-1.
