Pelletized Nitrocellulose Drying Program.

Abstract

All known commercial dryers and all drying principles were investigated for application to the drying of pelletized nitrocellulose. The principle used by the Wyssmont Turbo-Dryer was the only one found suitable. A demonstration setup provided design criteria for a 100-pound-per-hour-capacity dryer. This dryer appears to have excellent potential for drying HMX, RDX, and certain casting powders.
