Stabilization and Filtering of a TV Tracking System for Airborne Angle-Angular Rate Sensing.

Abstract

The TV tracker described herein was designed to be a small, lightweight, relatively inexpensive airborne unit capable of very accurate line-of-sight angle and angular rate sensing. A new filtering concept for tracking systems is presented together with a bootstrap method for increasing the acceleration capability without increasing the nose or bandwidth. A frequency domain optimization technique that can be used as a dynamic modeling and control system design aid is also described. Results of laboratory testing are presented to indicate the accuracy of the hardware. (Author)
