An Approach for the Determination of Desired Display Characteristics for Man-Machine Decision Systems.
Abstract
To further enhance the design and effective utilization of man-machine interactive decision systems, a decision process-oriented approach for the determination of desired interactive information display characteristics is necessary. This sutdy synthesizes such an approach, stressing the importance of the decision process to the man-machine decision system and identifying parameters which significantly affect display systems design. Based upon these findings, a general decision process-oriented methodology for determining desired display characteristics is recommended. The specific application of such a methodology is then discussed at considerable length. (Author)
