A Study of Civilian Retirements within the Headquarters of the Air Force Logistics Command and the 2750th Air Base Wing

Abstract

A model capable of predicting civilian optional retirements with a high degree of accuracy was needed by AFLC personnel planners. In this study, such a model was constructed by regression analysis techniques. Data for the study came from a sample of 484 AFLC civilian retirements at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Appropriate parametric and nonparametric statistical analyses were used to determine those variable factors which affect the retirement decision. Those factors which were found to have a strong correlation to the age of retirement were then used as predictor variables in the regression models constructed. It was found that retirements could be accurately projected.
