Study of Rail Tiedown Gear.

Abstract

This study was conducted by the U.S. Army Transportation Engineering Agency, Military Traffic Management and Terminal Service to compare application times of two types of commerically prefabricated lashing gear with each other and with the conventional American Association of Railroads blocking and bracing method used to secure an Army vehicle to a flatcar, to compare dynamic and static strengths of various tiedowns, and to determine the impact force distribution on the vehicle securements.
