An Analysis of Modification Development through Materiel Improvement Projects.

Abstract

Modifications to correct a deficiency in operational systems should be accomplished as rapidly as prudent business practice allows. The Air Force Logistics Command has primary responsibility for correcting deficiencies in Air Force systems and equipment. This study examines the Air Force Logistics Command procedures for developing Class IV modifications, reports average times for completing each phase of development, determines which phases take unnecessary time and presents recommended alternative methods to expedite modification completion.
