AERCAB Parawing Deployment and Articulation Flight Tests.

Abstract

The report summarizes the analysis design, development and functional ground and flight tests conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of the in-flight deployment and subsequent stabilized flight of an articulated Parawing Aircrew Escape and Rescue Capability (AERCAB) concept. Considerable effort was expended during this program in the design, fabrication and testing of a unique pneumatically-actuated system to deploy the articulated parawing. The qualitative flight test results conclusively demonstrated the feasibility of in-flight deployment and subsequent stabilized flight of this new escape concept. (Author)
