Aerocooling of a 12-Inch Diameter Missile During Air Carry.

Abstract

A series of flights using A6A aircraft and the small Bullpup airframe were made at 40,000, 30,000 and 20,000 feet. The resulting continuous time-temperature records of the JP-4 and JP-5 filled motor section are presented. The guidance and control section thermal response is also presented. Flight parameters included meteorological air temperatures of -78F for 2 1/2 hours exposure time. (Author)
