Americans and Vietnamese: A Comparison of Values in Two Cultures.

Abstract

This document is a two-part report of comparative research on Vietnamese and American value systems. Part I includes a discussion of the method for measuring values cross-culturally, and a comparative analysis of data collected from Vietnamese and American populations using the method. The findings in general indicate significant differences in values between the two groups. Implications of these differences for American-Vietnamese communication, counterpart relations and collaborative efforts are drawn out. Part II includes an evaluation of the method, supported by an extensive appendix, and some suggestions for future development of methodology. (Author)
