Aircraft Flotation Concepts Study. Aircraft Mover Vehicles.

Abstract

The feasibility of developing effective means for transporting tactical aircraft across unimproved terrain to and from dispersal areas was determined. In the course of the program effort, the contractor studied the aircraft characteristics as they affect ground movement; the pertinent terrain conditions; and the vehicular systems and components, available or in development, which could advantageously be utilized. Twelve preliminary concepts of possible aircraft mover systems were prepared and evaluated in terms of their satisfaction of the overall system requirements, their feasibility and the development effort required.
