Advancing Blade Tip Machmeter Evaluation.

Abstract

The advancing blade tip machmeter evaluation was conducted during cold weather tests of the HH-53C helicopter. The advancing blade tip machmeter had a significant error that was temperature sensitive, thus preventing use of the machmeter as a safety of flight ('redline') indicator. When an accurate advancing blade tip machmeter is developed, it should be considered for inclusion as a flight instrument for all future helicopters. (Author)
