Canadian Clearance Divers Breathing Apparatus.

Abstract

This report covers evaluation of the early production model of the CDBA. The basic design has five worthwhile advantages: excellent workmanship; appropriate materials; good design; great sturdiness; and ample accessories. The Clearance Divers Breathing Apparatus (CDBA) is suitable for deep diving up to one hour, within nitrogen-oxygen mixed-gas diving limits. The Shallow Water Breathing Apparatus conversion is suitable for shallow diving to 30 ft up to oxygen limit time for the particular depth, but not over one hour. The Underwater Swimming Apparatus is usable but not satisfactory for swimming to 30 ft for 30 minutes. The Clearance Divers Breathing Apparatus is recommended as an interim mixed-gas scuba to be used: (1) by Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel only; (2) for diving work only; (3) in no way for swimming; and (4) by well-trained personnel only.
