Digital Interface Code Converter.

Abstract

This is the third quarterly report on the Digital Interface Code Converter program. The purpose of this program is to design, develop, and fabricate one exploratory development model of the code converter. The code converter interfaces two PCM multiplexers which utilize different companding characteristics, bit rates, synchronization code formats and signaling formats. During this quarter work was concentrated on fabrication of the exploratory development model. Changes were formulated to allow laboratory testing of alternate mappings, to allow interfacing of different multiplexers via ROM selection, to define techniques for interfacing variable channel capacity systems, and to incorporate signaling information conversion between E and M signaling formats and tone signaling formats. Phase locked loop rate converter circuits were evaluated. (Author)
