Dynamics of Recoilless and Semirecoilless Weapons Volume II. Reduced Recoil Rocket Launchers.

Abstract

The objective of the computer program described in this volume is to provide a numerical description of the rocket velocity in the launch tube as a function of the launcher restriction at the aft end of the tube. The tube recoil forces and momentums are also presented for each launch tube restriction as are the tube pressures and the rocket motor chember pressures. The value of each parameter is shown as a function of the independent variable, time. Finally, the launcher nozzle exit area is computed and presented to bring the launcher net momentum as close to zero as possible. The present program is applicable for rocket/launch tube combinations wherein the pressure in the launch tube is equal to or less than the so-called critical pressure. Physically, under some conditions, the tube pressure may become larger than critical, but the applicable mathematical description of parameters for this case has not beem completed. For this reason, cases involving tube pressures greater than critical are terminated with an appropriate computer printout comment and the next case is initiated.
