'Locate' System and AN/ARN-94 Loran-C Receivers Test and Evaluation.

Abstract

The Beuker's 'Locate' System Loran-C Receiver and the AN/ARN-94 Loran-C Receiver were tested using EECEN's Loran Receiver Test Complex (LRTC). Interim Report No. 1 dated 28 July 1970 covered the results of the tests of the 'Locate' Receiver. This report covers the test results of the AN/ARN-94 Receiver which was substituted for the TDL-101 Loran-C Receiver originally scheduled for testing but not available as planned. Bias and fluctuation errors in the receiver's time-difference readout and time to search and settle were measured under various received-signal conditions. The AN/ARN-94 Loran-C Receiver is found to be easy to operate but subject to operator error in selecting the proper cycle of the received pulses. The receiver performance is considered satisfactory except for VCO instabilities and the lack of 1/2 PRR switching which leads to bias errors in the time-difference readouts. (Author)
