The Effects of Various Types of Rudders on the Turning Characteristics of Destroyer Models.

Abstract

Data for determining the effect of seven different types of rudders on the turning characteristics of each of two destroyer models have been assembled from the results of tests on these models. The data are evaluated and are presented in graphical and in tabular form. The rudders imparting superior turning characteristics, from the standpoint of diminishing the turning radius, are discussed in detail. (Author)
