Aircraft Drops of Discriminating Fuze Impact Testing Device, Assembled on Mine, XG-3A.

Abstract

This is the first partial report on aircraft drops of a Discriminating Fuze Impact Testing Device, assembled on Mine, XG-3A. This test was conducted to determine the feasibility of a paddle operated initiator for the XM-47 fuze. It is concluded that the initiator did not perform satisfactorily due to the oscillating ground impact of the mine and the location of the discriminator on the mine case.
