Aircraft Drop of Mine, XA-3H, with Parachute, XC-26A.

Abstract

As a result of this test, it is concluded that: (1) The parachute failed to function satisfactorily and did not check the descent of the mine; (2) The mine case tail flange and fin welded assembly withstood the test; (3) The velocity of the mine at the time of parachute opening was 722 + or - 2 feet per second; (4) The range ballistic coefficient of the freely falling mine case equipped with parachute pack was 0.72; time of fall coefficient was 0.69.
