Hardened Solar Array Panel Segments.

Abstract

Four radiation hardened solar array panel segments and four solar cell test modules have been built and tested by TRW. Each panel segment consists of two strings of 20 series by two parallel cells; one string is made of N/P cells, the other from P/N lithium doped cells. The test modules are made from four different types of radiation resistant cells. A thermal vacuum test of the four panel segments caused no reduction in electrical output. The panel segments and test modules were delivered for installation on a space vehicle.
