Comparison of Characteristics of Four Types of Passive Sonar Targets.

Abstract

The target strength characteristics of four types of reflectors are compared. The reflectors considered were the 20-faceted triangular corner icosahedron reflector, the 90-degree biconical reflector; the spherical liquid-filled lens reflector, and a modified spherical lens reflector. The target strengths as a function of frequency, size, radius of circumscribing spheres, and cross-sectional area were compared in addition to weight and cost approximations. (Author)
