Test Method for Collection of Signature Data for Development of the Surface Look-Alike Mine System (SLAMS).

Abstract

This test was conducted to obtain seismic and magnetic signature data to be used in the development of mine triggering mechanisms. Seismic signature data were gathered of the footsteps of people alone and in groups approaching at three rates and at varying distances from the sensors. Seismic signature data were gathered of a light Russian truck approaching at two speeds and at varying distances from the sensors. Magnetic signature data were gathered for three vehicles and for four directions of travel. Two different speeds were used while passing at distances from 0 feet to 10 feet from the sensor. Only the method of test is discussed in this report. Test data were recorded on magnetic tape and used to optimize circuit thresholds and logic. (Author)
