Product Improvement Test of Modified Leaf Sight for M203 Grenade Launcher.

Abstract

The purpose of the test was to evaluate the modified leaf sight and determine the accuracy of the sight graduations. Testing was conducted at Aberdeen Proving Ground by the Materiel Testing Directorate from 15 May to 19 June 1972. The modified leaf sights and M203 launchers (used for test support) were inspected; the launchers were fired for velocity, and then for accuracy using the leaf sight. The range graduations on the sight were accurate to impact grenades at the 200 and 300 meter ranges; however, the average impacts at the 100-meter range were 28.5 meters short and those at the 350-meter range were 55.7 meters beyond the target.
