Helmet Camouflage Kit.

Abstract

This test program is intended to evaluate overall suitability of camouflage printed decals applied to protective helmets used by aircrew personnel in jungle/tropical combat areas. The helmet camouflage kit consists of approximately 2.5 square feet of camouflage printed elastomeric film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. The three-color pattern is similar to that used for combat clothing items. The decal is to be cut into irregular shaped pieces of any convenient size and applied to the outer surface of the helmet shell and visor housing. All wax and foreign material must be removed from the helmet shell prior to installing the camouflage printed decal to insure adhesion. The purpose of the test is to compare the decal concept (helmet camouflage kit) as opposed to repainting the helmet for camouflage purposes to determine the preferred method.
