Incendiary Particle Capture Device

Abstract

A fluidized bed was produced by means of dry ice blocks under Purple K fire-extinguishing powder for the purpose of capturing burning white phosphorus particles from munition bursts for size distribution studies. This bed chills the burning particles and prevents further oxidation until they are removed. The Purple K powder is easily washed from the captured particles and floated away, because it has been treated to be insoluble and nonwettalbe.
