LORAN/OMEGA Receiver Study.

Abstract

This report describes the analytical study of feasibility of implementing an integrated LORAN/OMEGA receiver. The LORAN and OMEGA Navigation Systems were reviewed, their similarities and differences were collated, and an integrated system was formulated. An analysis was conducted to fully identify the synergistic capabilities of the integrated system. The system description and design specification of the hardware and software was prepared. A comparative analysis was conducted between the integrated system and an unmodified combination of the two systems. Comparison was made in the areas of cost, complexity and operational capability. The feasibility of developing an autonomous integrated LORAN/OMEGA receiver was documented and an implementation plan for design, development and test was prepared. (Author)
