Perforated Metallic Shells for Radome Applications.

Abstract

The primary advance made during the reporting period was the measurement and analysis of the fields in the region outside the 20 deg metallic radome with pointed tip. Intensity near the radome was measured using an open end waveguide as a probe antenna. The probe was moved in parallel paths, orthogonal to the axis of the radome and tangential to its side. A horn antenna, enclosed within the radome bounded region, transmitted and deep minima were found. Reflections appear to cause the minima by interfering with the wave directly propagated through the radome wall. A Moire pattern analysis is given.
