Gun Blast from Naval Guns

Abstract

The available data on gun blasts from naval guns are complied utilizing computer curve fitting techniques. Curves of peak free-air pressure are presented for all naval guns, ranging in size from 20 mm to 16in./50. In addition, curves of arrival time, duration and impulse are given for three of these guns. Development of the computer programs and data reduction methods which were used to model the free-air gun blast field are described. (Author)
