IROS Cost Study for the KS-87B Still Picture Camera.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the total recurring annual logistic support cost of the KS-87B camera. This cost will be useful when the KS-87B is compared to similar cameras. The computation of the cost of ownership is based on the IROS (Increased Reliability of Operational Systems) equations of AFLCM 66-18, Chapter 15. The costs for detecting and evaluating a failure, costs to remove, repair and replace the item, as well as the costs required to package and transport a not-reparable-this-station (NRTS) item to the depot for repair and return to the base were considered. Also, if an item is normally condemned and reprocured, either at base or deport level, the cost to replace the condemned items was included.
