Ships Supply Support Study.
Abstract
The Ships Supply Support Study, a CNO-directed in-house study, is intended to define, develop, and propose an automated method by which supply support dollar outlays may be related to fleet capability. The objective of the study is being accomplished through the design and operation of two Supply System Simulators. This Report has three purposes: (1) to report on the efforts at validating the Mark I inventory simulators and synthesizer by comparison with gross supply availabilities and requisition response times observed in the supply system; (2) to describe the analyses and experiments to be run on the Mark I simulator and to report the results of the four experiments which were entirely or partially done; and (3) to outline the design of the Mark II inventory simulators, process analyzers, synthesizer and converter whose purpose is to estimate gross supply availability and throughput time and to combine these into an estimate of the average delay in providing material for corrective maintenance actions and the effect of this delay on equipment operational availability.
