Plant Loading Simulation (PLS) Software Program.

Abstract

The Plant Loading Simulator (PLS) is a tool for realistic, detailed planning of the industrial base capacity under conditions for mobilization. It was developed for the specific needs of the U.S. Air Force, Systems Command, Aeronautical Systems Division/PPDC, but is is sufficiently general to be used for mobilization planning as well as for industrial resources control by all branches of the Armed Forces. PLS takes into account the critical components of major weapons systems and the capabilities and constraints of industrial suppliers' manufacturing facilities to determine whether the industrial base can support the Force Structure demanded by various war/contingency plans. It identifies shortfalls of specific load centers in suppliers' plants, analyses alternative ways to relieve these shortfalls at the least cost, and the time required for doing so.
