Thermal properties and Grueneisen Parameters for Several Polymers, Concretes, and Composite Materials.

Abstract

DTA, differential scanning calorimetry, thermomechanical analysis, and TGA were used to evaluate the thermal properties of several polymers, refractories, and solid propellants. Reproducibility was attained which permitted identification by comparing a curve to a spectrum of predetermined curves measured at specific conditions. The combined thermal methods define such parameters as linear thermal expansion coefficients, specific heats, transition temperatures, decomposition temperatures, fusion temperatures, kinetic rate constants, Arrhenius frequency factors, activation energies, and related thermodynamic functions. Grueneisen parameters are presented which were derived by combining thermal and ultrasonic measurements. (Author, modified-PL)
