Reconnectable Titanium Fittings with Weld-Attached Sleeves for the Hydraulic System.

Abstract

This report covers the results of qualification tests on titanium flareless reconnectable fittings with weld-attached sleeves for a Type III 4150-psi hydraulic system (-65 F to 450 F). The fitting material was titanium alloy (Ti) 6Al-4V annealed and the tubing Ti-3Al-2.5V cold worked and stress relieved. The tests conducted were tensile, repeated assembly, pressure impulse, flexure, and burst. The tensile, repeated assembly, and burst tests were conducted at room temperature, the pressure impulse tests at -65 F and 450 F, and the flexure test at 450 F. The titanium fitting standards and specification data for fabrication and installation of weld-attached sleeves and fittings are included. (Author)
