Repair Fittings and Repair Techniques for Titanium Hydraulic Tubing.

Abstract

This report provides the results of testing on reconnectable fittings for aircraft plumbing repair for a type III 4150 psi titanium hydraulic plumbing system. The primary work includes process development and qualification testing with a roller-swaged flareless sleeve and completion of evaluation of tube cutoff tooling. Secondary and temporary repair methods were investigated using the hand preset method for flareless bite-type sleeves. The tests conducted on the roller-swaged flareless sleeve were tensile, flexure, repeated assembly, pressure impulse, and burst. On the flareless bite-type sleeves, the same tests were conducted with the exception of the flexure tests. The roller-swaged sleeve and fitting standards are included. (Author)
