Teletherm Buoy Data Report: Support for Acoustic Model Validation.

Abstract

This report covers the design, construction, calibration, and operation of a set of 10 telemetering buoys each of which measures and transmits ocean temperature readings from 10 depths to a ship-mounted base station. The base station includes equipment to receive and record these data onto digital magnetic tape; an interfaced digital computer provides for real time data display and writes the data on an additional tape deck. A sea cruise using this equipment and the resulting data set are also discussed. All data taken under this project were converted into engineering units and written onto BCD digital magnetic tape. These tapes, with descriptive listings and plots were delivered to the Naval Undersea Center, San Diego. The BCD magnetic taped contain more than 75000 fields of temperature data sampled at 10 second intervals.
