Study of Physical Simulator Requirements and Management. Phase II: System Simulation and Test Facility Development Plan for the 1974-77 Period.

Abstract

This final report for Phase II presents a recommended development plan for the Air Force Armament Laboratory's (AFATL) System Simulation and Test (SST) Facility for the calendar year 1974-77 time period. The study was not constrained to include the existing EAI 690 as the SST Facility's hybrid computer. The study effort was composed of two parts, a requirements analysis and the development of a proposed SST Facility configuration which will be able to support these requirements. Due to the length of time between this study and the 1974-77 time period, only a portion of the 1974-77 SST requirements were able to be identified. However, management procedures are suggested for improving these requirement estimates and correspondingly modifying the 1974-77 SST Facility development plan on a regular basis. The development plan includes a management plan, SST Facility Staffing, hybrid computer configuration, physical simulation configuration, and a recommended relationship between the new Computer Sciences Laboratory's Hybrid Computer Facility and the SST Facility.
