Fatigue Crack Growth in a 5456-H117 Aluminum Alloy.

Abstract

Fatigue crack propagation tests over a range of stress intensity levels have been conducted on a 5456-H117 aluminum alloy with contoured double cantilever beam specimens. It is shown that the crack growth data can be represented by a simple equation which includes a term of threshold stress intensity. The results compare closely with those of a 5456-H321 alloy.
