Ground Surveillance Radar AN/PPS-15.

Abstract

The AN/PPS-15 Radar Set is a lightweight, coherent doppler, very short range combat surveillance radar operating at X-band at very low power. The present contract requires design, development, manufacture, and test of 13 Engineering Development models. The Radar Set is capable of detecting, locating, and identifying moving targets. The set can be operated from four positions: (1) remote operation; (2) tripod mounted; (3) pintle mounted (attached to a military vehicle); and (4) suspended in front of the operator. Activity during the third quarterly period centered on testing prototype models of the electronic modules and performing interface testing for system compatibility. Problems encountered during the design and testing were resolved. A procurement problem resulted in the submittal of a request to use standard military grade commercial integrated circuits. In general, the resolution of all problems ensures the satisfactory performance on the AN/PPS-15. (Author)
