Covert Night Panoramic Photographic System.

Abstract

An engineering design study was performed at Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corporation on a Night Panoramic Camera System. A description of a covert system consisting of a panoramic camera coupled to a specially designed illumination assembly is described. The camera is augmented with an image intensifier tube (IIT) that is sensitive in the near infrared (IR). The illumination output is filtered so that its radiation is also in the near IR making the total system covert. A 3-inch f.l. lens will be used. Film Transport and Image Transfer Breadboard experiments were performed in order to establish design criteria which were later used to help define the overall system. A systems analysis of the resolution potential is included. Finally, a design for installation in a current vehicle is presented. (Author)
