Determination of Tracking Errors in an Antiaircraft Environment.

Abstract

This report documents the development of a digital simulation that predicts the mean tracking error of a human performing compensatory tracking. Such tracking occurs with the on-carriage operation of the Soviet 23 and 37mm antiaircraft guns against maneuvering aircraft. Parameters in this simulation were determined from field test data and from tracking data generated on a hybrid computer. Correlations were also developed that predict the variance of the tracking error as a function of flight parameters for the 23 and 37mm Soviet AAA guns. (Author)
