Display Systems State of the Art.

Abstract

This report presents an overview of the current and projected state of the art in information display systems as they relate to submarine command and control. Included are a discussion of the principles of operation, applications, development status of such diverse displays as cathode ray tubes, light emitting diodes, liquid crystals, plasmas, ferroelectric devices, and others. Characteristics of the electronic devices required to drive these displays are given. Sections are included on the principles of subjective color and the use of computer speech as a mode of display interaction. (Author)
