A Research and Analysis Program of Studies on the Analysis of Weapon Effectiveness - Phase II Results. Volume III. Development of a Two Mode Human Operator Model for Tracking Task.

Abstract

The model of a human operator performing compensatory tracking in an antiaircraft artillery environment was developed. The resulting two mode model (tracking and acquisition) satisfactorily tracks a target aircraft during low level flybys. The model successfully works with a single set of parameters for a variety of flight paths of interest. One real-time simulation of the tracking system, with actual operators in the tracking loop, has also been developed on a hybrid computer. This system is used to verify certain parameters used in the study. (Author)
