A Computer Code for Dynamic Stress Analysis of Media-Structure Problems with Nonlinearities (SAMSON). Volume IV. Analysis of GRABS Phase I Tests. Part 1. Text with Appendixes I, II, and III.

Abstract

SAMSON, a two-dimensional finite element code, was developed for dynamic stress analysis of nonlinear media-structure problems. This volume contains part of a report on the application of the code to the analysis of a series of media-structure field tests. A series of large-scale, structure-medium interaction tests were conducted in the Giant Reusable Airblast Simulator (GRABS) at AFWL. This series consisted of three tests on dynamically loaded, buried, cylindrical structures. The purpose of these tests was to provide experimental data from idealized field tests with which theoretical predictions from computer analysis can be compared to determine the adequacy of analysis in describing structure-medium interaction.
